Elsa Corom – Artist Statement

My art is a fusion of fantasy, primitivism, and childlike wonder. With my brushes and oils, I stand before a blank canvas, allowing intuition to guide me, surrendering to an unseen reality.

As a child, I remember, just before drifting off to sleep, I would see ethereal beings floating around my room. These visions were eerie yet strangely comforting. Years later, my daughter shared similar stories of seeing “little monsters” before bedtime. Whether rooted in imagination or glimpses of another realm, these memories continue to influence my work.

The dots scattered across my canvases draw inspiration from Australian Aboriginal Dreamtime paintings and Tibetan mandalas. Bright colors and luminous light play a central role in my compositions, echoing my admiration for Kandinsky’s groundbreaking use of color.

My passion for travel has opened doors to some of the world’s most renowned museums and galleries - El Prado Museum, the Reina Sofia Museum, and numerous galleries in Madrid, the Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, and Antonio Gaudi Museums in Barcelona, the Louvre, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and many others.

For me, painting is not just about creating something visually appealing. My wish is for the viewer to tap into their inner child. My artwork allowing them to communicate with a lost part of themselves. My goal is to transmit a feeling of positive energy, radiating playfulness, joy and happiness, allowing the viewers to use their imagination, each interpreting the painting according to their subconscious. My polyptychs can be grouped together according to what resonates with the curator or buyer.

I want the viewer to remember the wonder with which he or she as a child gazed upon the world.
